01The problem
Small sellers and tradespeople in Zimbabwe mostly sell through WhatsApp statuses and Facebook groups — hard to search, impossible to browse by place, and gone in a day.
A marketplace built around proximity: buy locally, hire skilled people nearby, or post what you need and let locals answer.
02What I built
- 01Product and service listings across sixteen categories, from electronics and fashion to skilled trades, tutoring and fresh produce.
- 02Local-first discovery by city, with instant contact between buyers and sellers.
- 03A community board where people post what they need — a photographer, a part, a service — and locals reply.
- 04Google sign-in and an installable web app, so it behaves like an app without an app-store download.

04Decisions that shaped it
Free to list, local first
Removing the listing fee and sorting by proximity is what makes a marketplace useful to a seller in Bulawayo rather than only to one in Harare.
Demand, not just supply
The community board lets buyers post requests, so a seller can find the customer as well as the other way round.
